Choices of IOLS at Dr. Gadgil Eye Hospital
Dr. Gadgil Eye Hospital offers a wide range of intra ocular lenses (IOLs) that can be implanted after cataract surgery.
Monofocal Foldable IOL
They are commonly used in cataract procedures and are easy for your eye to adapt to. These are designed to provide good vision at one distance – usually for distance. Patients usually need reading glasses after surgery for close activites such as reading , craft or computer work.
Multifocal Foldable IOL
These are designed to provide good vision for distance and near. People usually do not need glasses for distance & near activities after cataract surgery.
Compared to Monofocal IOLs these can reduce dependence on glasses for activities like reading, viewing text on computer screen or watching movie. However about 5% of patients complain of haloes after implantation of these IOLs.
Toric lens is a revolutionary single piece foldable lens specially designed to correct astigmatism. Toric intraocular foldable lens is implanted during cataract surgery to reduce Corneal Astigmatism / Cylindrical number / Axis. With Toric IOL implantation Corneal Astigmatism can be eliminated to regain high quality distance vision after the Cataract Surgery.
